The Bright Clouds Biography

Throughout the United States, the Fantastic Bright Clouds have become one of America’s most outstanding gospel sensations.  The group consists of Joseph E. Council, Willie James Council, Henry Pitts Sr. Charles Chealy, Carter Snead, James D. Terry and Rev. Tommy Thurman are all vocalists. The musicians consist of: James Bowen, Kendall Brown, Avery (Chub) Council, Steve Floyd, Benny Hill, Lenny Morale, and Henry Pitts, Jr.  

The group was formed in Rochester, New York in 1967.  The Lord has called home the original lead singer Benjamin Brown, Abraham Close and Robert Hurell.  The group began to walk in their own distinct style, which although refined, is still evident today that they are serving God. 

The Fantastic Bright Clouds are more than just a gospel-singing group and more than just standard bearers: they are above all else gospel ministry.  They stand tall in what they believe in God and gospel music.

 The Fantastic Bright Clouds realized that without God there would be no success.  They also realized that without God providing people along the way to help them with their success would be limited.  Some of those people are the staff at First Lite; Stephen Sturkie and Cindy Gainey, Dr. Rev. Douglas Smith, Pastor of Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church and family; Rev. James Otis Smith, Kendall Brown, Roosevelt (Bud) Council, and above all our families, fans and gospel announcers.   Special thanks to our spouses for praying and supporting us through it all.  We love you!
